Hade Edge Band, Bolsterstone Male Voice Choir and guest artistes will give an Armistice Day  concert to remember the fallen and also to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the choir’s darkest day when a coach carrying choir members, relatives and friends to a music competition crashed after careering out of control down a steep hill and crashing at terrific speed in the centre of Holmfirth.  A two-storey building collapsed, crushing the coach and trapping the passengers.  Nine people were killed and many injured, some seriously.

The choir and families affected by the crash disaster have never forgotten the help of the people of Holmfirth and the doctors and nurses at Holme Valley Memorial Hospital and the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on that fateful day in October 1947.  The story of the terrible crash will be told at the concert.  Proceeds will go to the Royal British Legion and Friends of the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital.
